Terms of service

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 7 November 2026

These terms apply to all bookings made with Kayak World (“KayakWorld”, “we”), operating from Three Anchor Bay, Cape Town. By booking a tour, the guest agrees to these terms on behalf of everyone in their group.

1. Bookings and payment

  • A booking is confirmed once payment is received and a confirmation email is sent.
  • Prices are in South African rand (ZAR) and include VAT where applicable.
  • KayakWorld does not store card details.
  • Bookings made through third-party platforms such as Expedia are also subject to that platform’s terms.

2. Who can join

  • Guests must be at least 7 years old. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult in the same kayak or on the same tour.
  • Guests must be able to swim and be in reasonable health. Anyone with a medical condition, injury or pregnancy that could affect safety should tell Kayak World before the tour.
  • KayakWorld may refuse to take out anyone who appears unfit, intoxicated or unwilling to follow safety instructions. No refund is due in that case.

3. Safety

  • Every guest receives a safety briefing and a life jacket, which must be worn for the whole tour.
  • Guests must follow the guide’s instructions at all times.
  • The guide may change the route, shorten or end the tour at any point if conditions or behaviour make it necessary.

4. Wildlife
Tours take place in the open ocean. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, and guests must keep the distance the guide sets from animals. Touching, feeding or chasing wildlife is not allowed.

5. Weather and cancellations by Kayak World
Kayak World cancels tours when wind, swell or other conditions are unsafe. If this happens, the guest can choose a free rebooking or a full refund. Refunds are paid to the original payment method within 14 working days.

6. Cancellations and changes by the guest

  • Cancel more than 24 hours before the tour: full refund or free rebooking.
  • Cancel within 24 hours, or no-show: no refund.
  • Late arrivals may miss the tour without refund, because the briefing and launch cannot be repeated.
  • Third-party platform bookings follow that platform’s cancellation rules where they differ.

7. Risk and responsibility
Kayaking is an outdoor activity on open water and carries inherent risks, including capsizing, cold water, changing weather, and collisions. Guests take part at their own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, Kayak World is not liable for loss, injury or damage that results from these inherent risks, or for loss of personal belongings. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including under the Consumer Protection Act.

8. Equipment and belongings
Guests are responsible for damage they cause to equipment through misuse. Kayak World recommends leaving valuables on shore and using dry bags for phones and cameras.

9. Photos and video
Kayak World may photograph or film tours for marketing. Guests who do not want to appear can tell the guide at the start, and KayakWorld will leave them out.

10. Privacy
Personal information is handled as described in the Privacy Notice.

11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
